Mass Of Thanksgiving
On Friday, November 16 the entire student body will participate in a mass of Thanksgiving. Students will present wagons of food to the St. Francis of Assisi food pantry.
Students should be in mandatory uniforms beginning on Monday, October 29. Students need to be wearing their proper attire for St. James School. Unfortunately, the weather is getting colder, and we require uniforms. Please adhere to the uniform policy in the handbook. Thank you!
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is doing one last push to collect supplies for the event in November. Items have been assigned by classroom, and Mrs. Barnwell has distributed a flyer for the articles. The winning class will get a dress down day and a cupcake party! Please bring supplies to the main office. Please contact Melissa Barnwell via email with questions.
Attention, new families! If you would like to decorate a tile for the cafeteria, please contact the main office. The cost is $20.00 per tile. All proceeds will go to Operation Christmas Child.
SJS Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to our 2018 SJS Teacher of the Year, Mrs. LaPointe. Thank you for all you do for your students and our school.
Cyber Safety and Bullying Presentation
Students had a presentation on Cyber Safety and Bullying on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in our gym. The presenter came from Chicago for the parents on Tuesday evening and for our students on Wednesday. It was an informative session dealing with social media, Instagram, online predators, sexting, snapchat, online gaming, and cell phone monitoring. The presenter gave suggestions on how to monitor online situations. The purpose of the parent presentation was to educate parents on the dangers that children face every day in their online life and provide them with practical strategies to parenting in this hyper digital age. By increasing parents’ comfort and awareness of these issues, they will be more involved in their children’s online life thus increasing the communication on this topic and their safety. Additionally, the presenter provided practical, technical instruction on the apps and devices that children are using every day.
